Date of publication: 25 September 2019

Transneft Kozmino Port has held a press tour for mass media representatives of the regions where the Eastern Siberia – Pacific Ocean pipeline system runs. The port is the end point of the oil trunk pipeline.

Journalists visited the main operating facilities of the Company: an oil depot and a site of coastal and berthing facilities. The press tour was organised as part of celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Kozmino oil port.

The ESPO PS oil trunk pipeline was also put into operation ten years ago. Along  with the start of the port’s operation, this event became a landmark for the Russian oil industry, making the oil fields of the Eastern Siberia available for exploration. Phase I of ESPO-2 is a section of the oil pipeline from Tayshet (Irkutsk Region) to Skovorodino (Amur Region), while ESPO-2 is the section from Skovorodino to the Kozmino oil terminal. The port provides for shipment of the Russian oil delivered via the ESPO for export to countries of Asia and the Pacific.

The event was attended by representatives of news agencies, business and political publications from Siberia and Far Eastern regions of the country, as well as employees of press services of Transneft subsidiaries from Khabarovsk, Omsk, Bratsk and Tyumen.

The participants of the press tour got acquainted with the technological process of receiving and shipping oil, loading it into tankers, with the organisation of work at a tank farm, with the anatomy of a system for measuring quantity and quality of oil and vapor recovery units.

Representatives of the Company’s management told the reporters about the main stages of the development of the oil terminal. The construction of the oil port began in 2008. “The high-tech terminal was to be commissioned in a year and a half, so we were working on everything at once. On 28 December 2009, the first 100 thousand tonnes of oil transported via the ESPO oil pipeline were loaded onto the Moskovsky Universitet (Moscow University) tanker. This date is considered to be the start of the port’s operation,” Director General of Transneft Kozmino Port Denis Cheplyansky said.

After the tour, a large press conference was held with the participation of relevant specialists of the Company. Journalists had the opportunity to ask topical questions about the Company: sending oil for export, social and personnel policies, observing environmental standards, implementing the programme on an artificial reproduction of aquatic biological resources.

According to the results of the visit to the Kozmino oil port, the participants noted high level of technological processes’ automation. Specialists’ work with tankers and the oil loading process itself aroused huge interest. The Company’s efforts in the field of ecology, energy efficiency and occupational health were also praised. According to the participants of the press tour, the acquaintance with a unique domestic oil terminal – the Kozmino oil port – turned out to be informative and interesting, and the Company's specialists presented comprehensive and objective information about its activities.
